Our book is only available on this website and at local shops in and around Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Our goal is to support small business and encourage you to enjoy the experience of shopping local and exploring our towns.

Every time I get anywhere near this shop, my dogs start pulling me in. Maybe it’s the free treats and water at the door just for them! Or all the new friends they meet there.

This shop will make you smile and fill your heart with happiness. From cozy beds and every toy imaginable, fashionable leashes and bowties, heaps of yummy treats and vibrant pet attire for cats and dogs.

This cherished toy store has been a Carmel landmark since 1969! It’s what toys store should be.

Locally owned and overflowing with small batch toys, puzzles, games, fluffy animals, costumes, books, educational items, the list could go on and on. It’s a haven for kids of all ages, inspiring creativity and adventure and learning. I grew up shopping here and then had the pleasure of bringing my children here when they were young.

PILGRIMS WAY BOOKSTORE AND THE SECRET GARDEN

When you enter this combo of a quaint neighborhood book shop and a charming little garden shop you will instantly feel a sense of calm. Maybe it’s all the lovely books, cards, crystals, puzzles and gifts or the adorable kids corner.

The garden section winds down a stone path overflowing with vines, as sound of fountains provide a sense of tranquility and wonder. This is a unique experience and feels like a small getaway tucked away for you to discover. You will find gifts, succulents, windchimes, outdoor art and pots
all handpicked by the caring owners. They are the only book shop in the village and a must see to enjoy and discover all the little surprises around each corner.

DELIA BRADFORD FINE ART

Delia Bradford was my first choice for the artist featured throughout my book. She has been my favorite local artist for a few decades now.

Her gallery is very low-key, friendly and welcoming. You can often stop in and find her painting in the window, or you may spot her along a scenic path creating someone new and wonderful. She offers variations of her art at affordable price points, so everyone can take home a piece of the Monterey Peninsula seen through her eyes with them. The rabbits featured in the story are her pets!

I suggest making this your first stop in Carmel-by-the-Sea. You will learn about activities, tours, events and businesses you never even knew existed.

This is volunteer run shop operated by The Carmel Chamber of Commerce, and they are so friendly and knowledgeable about our village and beyond.

It’s also a great place to grab the handy Carmel Visitor’s Guide, postcards, brochures and souvenirs…and of course our book. It’s located in Carmel Plaza, ideal for shopping, dining and dog (and people) watching.
